[PvP] Strange Distracting Ranger
Well i was mucking around in RA and i came up with this build. It's an interupting ranger/degen. I think it works quite well in Ra and Ta, but not HA because of the RC prots. Thought i'd share it with you guys .
Equipment;
I used a Short Bow with the 5+ Energy and Full Druids for the energy.
Attributes;
Skill Bar; (It needs alot of tweaking but i'm sure you get the general idea.)
Skills from left to right;
Broad Head Arrow
Conjure Phantasm
Savage Shot
Distracting Shot
Power Drain
Apply Posion
Whirling Defence
Res Signet
What happens is, when the game starts use apply poison (this is important so that they don't just remove the Dazed as soon as you put it on). Pick a soft target, Run up close to him (The futher away you are the easier it is to kite the arrow) and then use Broad Head Arrow followed by Conjure. Interupt any skills they try to get off. (Hopfully the warrior will be on the same target as you and they won't be able to get a spell off. If you start taking damage use Whirling Defence. By this time the target should have droped.
Any suggestions? Ideas?

Well, if you don't mind some constructive feedback...
First of all Broadhead Arrow is a great unconditional daze, but it takes time to reach the target and is quite easy to dodge as it loops slowly though the air. So you need to speed it up. I reccommend you use Read The Wind or Favorable Winds. The problem with Read The Wind is that as a preparation you won't be able to cover the dazed immediately with poison, so you'd need another way of applying a condition to cover dazed. As you're running a mesmer secondary an inventive way of doing that would be to use the skill-chain of Phantom Pain, Broadhead Arrow, Shatter Delusions.
Right, you have the target dazed and covered, now to kill it dead. You'll definitely want an attack speed boosting stance to make sure you catch every spell they try to get off. Lightning Reflexes or Tigers Fury will do the job.
Arcane Conundrum is also worth a look if you're really having trouble catching spells.
Oh, this won't work very well vs a Boon Prot type monk. They all seem to carry Contemplation of Purity Your best bet there is to spam Melandru's Arrows at their bald tatooed little monky heads.

- Broadhead Arrow need read the wind or favorable wind to be able to hit at max range.
- Silencing Bow String
- Expertise to 8, points goes to illusion
- replace Whirling Defense with distorsion
- Markmenship goes to 15, rest of the points goes to wilderness survival
- 0 to inspiration, use point in either illusion or wilderness
- replace power drain with read the wind or favorable wind

Well. I tried using Favorable winds to boost the speed and it didn't work very well. And yess i do use a Silencing Bow string. Also if i put the expertise down to 8 the energy cost gets too great.

I suggest Marks down to 11 or 12, Exp to 14, put Wilderness up to at least 8 or 9 for poison duration.

Last I checked, Broad Head Arrow's arc wasn't affected by Read The Wind or Favorable Winds.

Yeah. That's what i found aswell. So you have to run close to the target but then it's all uphill from there. I guess you could put the marks down if you use a Silencing Bow string.
